Religious Ceremonies in Edinburgh, Scotland
A religious wedding ceremony can take place in either the Great Hall of the Auld Keep, the Croquet Room within the main house, the Pavilion on the lawn or outdoors on the estate near Edinburgh.
The Auld Keep is a romantic medieval tower, complete with an enchanting winding staircase and original stone work. The window alcoves in the tower are perfect for dressing with flowers and candles to match your wedding theme and the vaulted ceiling in the Great Hall adds to the feeling the you have been transported back to 15th Century Scotland. Perfect for up to 100 of your guests, there is nowhere more romantic for your fairytale wedding.
The Georgian Croquet Room within the main house is an elegant location for you religious ceremony for up to 80 guests. You may wish to choose this room due to the ease of access for guests who may not manage the steps in the Auld Keep or those who require a wheelchair. With floor to ceiling windows providing you with magnificent views across the estate, the chandelier lit room is perfect for any season.
The Pavilion on the Lawn is ideal for a wedding with up to 180 guests. With windows making up 2 sides of the Pavilion there are spectacular views across the estate. During the day, weather permitting, the doors to the lawns can be opened, allowing your guests to enjoy the fresh Scottish air. At night, when the sun has set, the panorama changes completely and your spectacular view is now of the floodlit castle and fountain.
Religious ceremonies can also take place outdoors on the estate near Edinburgh, Scotland. There are many lovely locations to choose from. Whether you prefer the seclusion of the loch side, the manicured lawns in front of the castle or the charming courtyard, we are here happy to discuss any locations with you.

In order to make your religious marriage legal, a marriage schedule must be applied for, completed and returned to the Registrar General in South Queensferry near Edinburgh. An M10 form must be completed and sent to the registrar along with the appropriate marriage fees. Please click here to download an M10 form. Once either the bride or groom has collected the schedule from the registrar, it must be brought to Dundas on the day of the wedding. Once the wedding is over, a member of the Dundas Castle team can take the schedule back to the registrar in South Queensferry for processing or a member of the wedding party can take it to the registrar no later than three days after the ceremony.
