Film and Photo Shoots

You’ll be treated like a movie star

From authentic Medieval Scottish scenes and luxury homely shoots; to archery by the loch and relaxed interviews in front of the fire, we have been able to provide diverse locations for many different styles of film and photo shoot.

Take a look at the different areas that are available.

Auld Keep

Our 600 year Auld Keep has a medieval setting with 3ft thick exposed brick walls, high vaulted ceilings and an original spiral staircase.

The Auld Keep has a variety of rooms with different highlights. Within our Stag Chamber there is a mounted taxidermy Stag head and Elk head. Our Armoury has a collection of historic weapons mounted on white brick walls. The focal point of the room is a grand open fireplace. The Great Hall is a magnificent space with double room height and an arched ceiling due to adaptions made in the 1700s to convert it into a brewery.

The roof of the Auld Keep boasts stunning views over the Firth of Forth and the Dundas estate.

Dundas Castle

The main Castle is 200 years old and is decorated in a Georgian style. All of the rooms are opulent with luxurious furnishings, paintings and large windows.

Enter into the Main Hall, with a grand sweeping staircase and walls covered with wooden cladding. Our Drawing Room is full of splendour with a large chandelier, open fire and grand piano. The library is a cosy room with an open fire, red satin walls and a wall of books which is a fun photograph background. Our Billiard Room is full of black and white photographs and family memorabilia, with a full-size billiard table at the centre of the space.

The Castle has 17 bedrooms which are all individually styled. These can be used for photo shoots and filming or can be crew accommodation if you are here for a number of days. Actors can also use these as changing rooms or to store their belongings.

Estate and grounds

The Castle facade can be used as a backdrop for filming and photoshoots as well as the 400 acres of parkland.

The Dundas loch is located within a two-minute drive of the Castle. It boasts stunning views across the water which is surrounded by mature trees and seasonal plants such as daffodils and rhododendrons. This is perfect if you were wishing to shoot a series across a long period of time.

Our 4×4 course can be used for some off-road driving and other activities can be organised throughout the estate such as Tennis or Archery. This can showcase the use of different products or simply to add interaction within a piece of filming.

You can choose to use only one or several of the spaces mentioned above. The Dundas Castle team have experience working with film crews and can organise different dining options during your time at the Castle. There is a large car park at the back of the Castle and additional parking throughout the estate for trailers. For a large cast and crew, additional accommodation can be found a short distance away in South Queensferry.
