About LG Makeup.
I started LG Makeup about 8 years ago when I first moved to Edinburgh. Before that I was living and working in London but soon after I got married my husband and I moved to this beautiful city I fondly call home. I had been working in the beauty industry for many years including the world renowned Elizabeth Arden Red Door Salon in London’s Mayfair.  Because of my passion for the makeup industry and knowing that I could make a small difference to someone’s life by either teaching or enabling them to look their very best, I started my own business.
I consider myself fortunate as my work offers me the chance to travel all over Scotland, allowing me to see some of the country’s finest 5-Star venues and meet such lovely brides, some of whom have since become really good friends.  Each bride I meet is truly individual and I value each wedding as if it were my own. I have a special fondness for Dundas Castle because not only do I think the team there are fab, and the rooms are spacious and light – which is great for a makeup artist, but there is an instant feeling of excitement when anyone walks through the doors.  If there are quite a few in the bridal party to have their hair and makeup done I am able to start earlier in the day at the bride’s house and then finish at the Castle – giving lifts to the bridesmaids and all their stuff! I have once given a lift to a bride who wanted to go via a bookmakers to place a sneaky bet.  So the LG Makeup services know no bounds!
Our products
Unlike most makeup artists, I only use one range of makeup. There was no hesitation for me when choosing a range to work with because I personally had been wearing this makeup for a couple of years and loved it. It is a range called Jane Iredale, The Skincare Makeup. It is a mineral makeup that is natural, feels amazing and gives the most flawless finish. Even photographers have commented on the flawless yet natural finish, which I think is a great testament to the makeup.  Another really good thing, which is key for a bride to look fabulous until the end of the night, is that the makeup stays put. Because it is natural it almost becomes like a second skin which means that at the end of the night it looks the same as it did at the start! I’ve had some fantastic compliments, not only about how lovely the makeup looked but how well it lasted.  One bride commented “I couldn’t believe my makeup was still in place when I woke up the next day!”  Of course, as a makeup artist, I do recommend taking your makeup off before you go to bed!
I mainly do weddings but can often be called on if someone has a special event to go to or a glitzy ball and would like to look their absolute best.   I am also happy to be able to work with a few very talented hairdressers and often give recommendations to clients.
Your makeup
If you make an enquiry I will send out an information pack detailing prices and how to book. If your enquiry is for a wedding then I highly recommend you have a trial first. This gives an opportunity for us to meet and we can talk through any ideas you have (or help you if you don’t have any ideas) about your wedding look.  A trial normally takes about one hour and where possible it is nice to try and have your hair trial done at the same time, or at least the same day so you can really get an idea about how you will look on your day. There are occasions though when I’ve meet the bride for the first time on her wedding day because she might live abroad or only arrives a few days before the wedding and this has been absolutely fine.
Advice to you
My advice to brides, when thinking about how you want to look on your wedding day, is to try to keep as true to yourself as possible. It isn’t the time to try a radical new look or have a spray tan when you have always been very fair.  You might regret it.  Have a good look through bridal magazines to get some ideas and if you feel a bit nervous about getting your makeup applied then bring a friend or family member along for the trial, that way you know they will be honest with you!
