This is the blog site for Dundas Castle, we hope that you enjoy reading it.
Here we will be posting stories from events, informing you of industry news and giving you an insight into what makes Dundas Castle tick. If you have any questions you would like us to answer, stories you would like us to print or comments that you would like our opinion on, please contact me, Siobhán Leith. I am the Marketing Manager at Dundas Castle and will be happy to hear from you. In this blog you’ll find that we have Guest Blogs from some of our suppliers and if you would like to hear from one of our suppliers in particular, just let me know.
If you haven’t been to the castle before, here is a bit of background information so that you feel more ‘at home’.
Dundas Castle is one of Scotland’s most beautiful castles, situated only 20 minutes from the centre of Edinburgh and 15 minutes from the capital’s international airport. This makes us the perfect meeting point for guests who are travelling from afar or for those who want to get away from the buzz of the city to a secluded retreat by only travelling for 20 minutes!
We are a 5-Star Exclusive Use venue and the private family home of Sir Jack Stewart-Clark and his wife Lady Lydia. The castle buildings are available for exclusive hire, allowing you to own the castle for the duration of your stay, whether it is a private family celebration, a corporate event or a romantic wedding.
The main house was built in 1818 and has three main reception rooms for you and your guests to enjoy. With open log fires and comfortable sofas and armchairs you are encouraged to relax and make the castle your home whilst being surrounded by the antique furniture, original paintings and beautiful fabrics. Frans, Ricarda and their fantastic events team are on hand throughout your stay to descretely attend to your needs and to ensure that you feel like the King and Queen of your castle!
The medieval Auld Keep building transports you back to the 15th Century with its winding staircase and original 3-foot thick walls. The Stag Chamber on the lower level creates an amazing atmosphere for a Scottish banquet, the Amoury has a huge open fire and is perfect for a drinks reception or even a whisky tasting and the Great Hall is the perfect, romantic location to exchange wedding vows. The Auld Keep is my favourite part of the castle as you can’t help but feel that you are contributing to the stories that the medieval tower will tell in another 600 years. See my blog post in ‘My Dundas Castle’ regarding the Keep roof!
Prestige Scotland is our dedicated caterer who uses their wealth of experience to ensure that you enjoy the most sumptuous foods and finest wines during your time with us. Extensive menu choices and wine lists are available for you to choose from and your catering Events Coordinator, Laura, is on hand to advise you and answer any questions as you create the perfect dining experience for your family, friends, colleagues or clients. Check out their Guest Blog here.
With 14 opulent bedrooms within the castle and luxury accommodation close by, Dundas Castle is the perfect location for an experience that you and your guests will never forget. For a private romantic retreat we have the the secluded Boathouse on the Loch which is available for hire for two people.
